Westminster High School's Educators Rising Club Chapter has earned recognition at the state level, with multiple students placing in the top 10 at the state-level Educators Rising competitions, and are now eligible for a national competition, according to a news post on the Carroll County Public Schools website.
These Educator Rising performance-based events challenge aspiring educators to showcase their knowledge, skills, and leadership in the field of education.
The following students from the Teacher Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood Education programs have distinguished themselves with top placements:
Layla Ridgway, Grade 12 – 1st Place Varsity in the Creative Lecture Competition
Cheyenne Pickett and Daphne Snyder, Grade 12 – 2nd Place Varsity in the Children's Literature Competition
Bella Munoz, Grade 11, and Judy Nuzzo, Grade 10 – 6th Place Junior Varsity in the Children's Literature Competition
Meghan Brauning, Grade 9 – 1st Place Junior Varsity White Ribbon in the Teacher Created Materials Competition
The students’ success at the state-level competitions has earned them eligibility to compete at the 2025 Educators Rising National Conference, set to take place June 26-29 in Orlando, Florida.
According to Educators Rising, the conference will feature over 1,500 students from across the country, participating in 26 education-focused competitions and four contests. Competitions will cover a wide range of skills, including lesson planning, public speaking, and leadership, preparing students for their future careers in education.
The conference’s theme, Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders, will emphasize the importance of inspiring and equipping the next generation of educators with the tools to shape the future of education. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony on June 29, where top competitors will be honored with certificates, medals, and ribbons.
Educators Rising is a nationwide career and technical student organization supporting students pursuing careers in education through hands-on learning experiences and curriculum resources.
