Local golfers and community members will gather on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Westminster National Golf Course to celebrate the life and legacy of Larry Baker, a longtime advocate for youth sports in Westminster.
The Second Annual Larry Baker Memorial Golf Outing aims to honor his contributions while raising funds for the Larry Baker/Bo Yingling Scholarship Fund, which supports students who have participated in the St. John's Boys Basketball League.
Baker, who co-founded the league in the early 1970s with Bo Yingling, dedicated more than 40 years to mentoring young athletes before retiring to North Carolina. Though he passed away two years ago, his impact continues to be felt across the Westminster sports community.
The event will follow a four-person scramble format, with teams competing for prizes, including awards for first and second place. Individual contests such as closest to the pin (par 3s) and longest drive (par 5s) will also be featured. A putting contest will be available for an additional $5 entry fee.
Participants will enjoy a morning spread of coffee, donuts, and bagels, followed by a fried chicken lunch, with unlimited beverages (beer, water, soda) provided throughout the day.
