McDaniel Women’s Lacrosse Open Centennial Conference Play in Westminster Saturday

Green Terror face off against Muhlenberg at 1 p.m. at Gill Stadium

McDaniel College's women’s lacrosse team is set to open Centennial Conference play against Muhlenberg this Saturday at home in Westminster, with the opening draw scheduled for 1 p.m. at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium.

The Green Terror are eager to start strong in conference play after a rigorous offseason and non-conference schedule. The team sits at 5-3 overall after winning three out of the first games five in their their current six-game home stand that comes to a close Saturday.

In their most recent game, Head Coach Kristin Ramey earned her 100th career win as McDaniel defeated Wisconsin-Eau Claire 14-5 on Sunday at Gill Stadium.

Ramey, in a Green Terror Talk podcast episode previewing the team’s season, emphasized the squad’s fitness and speed as key strengths. The team sharpened their skills through summer training, fall ball, and intense winter practices.

The Green Terror have ambitious goals for the season. “Being top six [in the conference] is not out of reach for this team,” said Ramey on the podcast. “We have to be rock solid in conference play, hopefully as we are out of conference.”

Junior Kat Thayer leads the Green Terror in scoring through their first eight games with 19 goals and 13 assists. Ten of those points came in the team’s 15-14 win against Hood College on February 26.

After Saturday’s home game against Muhlenberg in Westminster, the team plays next at Haverford on March 29 and returns home with a match-up against Dickinson on April 2.
